Only when the abrasive belt is reasonably selected and used correctly, various problems in the use of the abrasive belt can be correctly solved, and the superiority of the abrasive belt grinding and the best grinding performance of the abrasive belt can be exerted, the quality of workpiece can be guaranteed.
1. Reasonably choose the abrasive belt type
Different types of abrasive belts are selected for different workpiece materials and different workpiece shapes. The selection of abrasive belt types is from the material of the substrate, the material of the abrasive, the type of binder and the mode of the belt joint etc.
2. Choose the right particle size
Only by selecting the appropriate abrasive belt particle size can the surface quality of the workpiece be ensured and the service life of the abrasive belt be improved. If the grain size of the selected abrasive belt is too small, the surface quality of the workpiece cannot be guaranteed. If the grain size of the selected abrasive belt is too large, the abrasive belt will be easily wrinkled and broken during use, which will reduce the service life of the abrasive belt.
3. Grain size selection of multi-pass abrasive belt grinding process
If a workpiece adopts multi-pass abrasive belt grinding process, the grain size of the abrasive belt used in the later pass can only skip two grain size numbers at most. Only in this way can the high efficiency of abrasive belt grinding be brought into play, from the same reason, the shape, size of the workpiece and the surface quality of the workpiece can be guaranteed.
4. The distribution of the removal amount of the multi-pass abrasive belt grinding process
Two processes: The distribution ratio of front and rear channels is 85/15.
Three processes: The distribution ratio of the front and rear channels is 65/25/10.
Four processes: The distribution ratio of front and rear channels is 50/30/12/8.
5. Selection of abrasive belt running direction
When using the abrasive belt, the running direction of the abrasive belt should be the same as the direction marked on the back of the abrasive belt, otherwise the abrasive belt will easily break prematurely during use and affect the surface quality of the workpiece. When using the abrasive belt, the running direction of the abrasive belt can be ignored.
Only when the abrasive grains of the abrasive belt are basically dull and the abrasive belt loses its grinding performance, it comes the normal end of the service life of the abrasive belt. However, in the actual abrasive belt grinding process, due to the poor quality of the abrasive belt, the poor quality of the workpiece, equipment problems and improper operation, the abrasive belt will also be scrapped when the abrasive particles are not blunt.
